Are you a Commonwealth Citizen who has resided in the UK since 1973 or are you the child of a Commonwealth Citizen seeking to regularise your status?
Prime Minister Theresa May has apologised to Caribbean leaders over deportation threats made to the children of Commonwealth citizens, who despite living and working in the UK for decades, have been told they are living here illegally because of a lack of official paperwork.
Unfortunately, many have been detained or deported wrongfully.
If you have lived in the UK permanently since before 1973 and have not been away for long periods in the last 30 years, you have the right to be here and are entitled to apply for citizenship.
If you came to the UK after 1 January 1973, you may be allowed to stay here permanently especially if your parents were members of the Windrush generation.
If you need help with your application to stay here, or, if you are facing deportation or removal from the UK or simply have general questions about your status, please get in touch with our dedicated team at Jackson Longe Solicitors either by email at info@jacksonlonge.com or by telephone on 0208 332 2069.
